Human Bingo: Icebreaker
Human bingo makes even shy students feel comfortable talking to new people in class as it gives them a fun mission and they can focus on completing the mission. In just 5 minutes, students will have mingled with more new people than they would in parties.
What You Need
You can download the Human Bingo template from below. For your convenience, I created both PDF and Word versions.

How I Do It
The Bingo CardEach cell of the table has some words as in the picture on the left. As you can see, they describe some hobbies, skills, professions, and experiences.
ObjectiveEach student has to find as many students as possible who fit the descriptions on the Bingo card. If you are a student, when you find someone who fits one of the descriptions on the card, you have to write his/her name in the cell as shown in the picture below.

What Happens If You Get Bingo?
The way I reward those who get Bingo is through giving them extra credit points, but the act of interacting with new people itself is a much bigger reward to most students. I have tried many other icebreakers in the past, but Human Bingo has been the most effective one so far.
